Delicious Homemade Sandwich Bread

Equipment

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups warm water
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 Tbsp Yeast
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 Tbsp softened butter
  • 4-5 cups bread flour

Instructions
 

  • Mix together yeast, sugar, and water (heated to 105°F-115°F) in a large bowl or mixer. Allow this to bloom for 10 minutes.
  • Add honey, salt, and 3 cups of flour to yeast. Start mixing together and add butter. Add the rest of the flour 1/2 cup at a time until tacky.
  • Knead by hand for 10 minutes or with a mixer for about 7 minutes or until the dough feels like a soft ear lobe.
  • Grease the bowl and place the dough in. Cover with a flour sack towel and rise until double in size (about 1.5 hours).
  • Punch down the dough and divide it into two equal loaves.
  • Place in a greased (or buttered) bread pan. Allow to rise until doubled in size (about 30 minutes).
  • Place in oven at 350°F. Bake for 27-30 minutes or until the tops are golden brown.
  • Optional - After removing it from the oven, rub it with butter.
  • Cool for at least 30 minutes before cutting.
