Why Handmade Soap?

Sharing is caring!

Making handmade soap has become a passion for me. After dealing with sensitive skin and having children with eczema, I decided to make a soap bar to know exactly what ingredients were going into it. Using animal fats like high-quality beef tallow and homegrown lard (pig fat) creates a beautiful, moisturizing bar of soap. I strive to make a high-quality product that I use not only on myself but my husband, children, family, and friends and love too! You can shop our artisan handmade tallow shops in the Linen & Logs Shop!

I am simply sharing my opinions and experiences and am not making any medical claims. I am an artisan soap maker and want to share my journey.

Clean Ingredients in Artisan Handmade Soap

Handcrafting a soap recipe allows me to control every ingredient I use in a batch of soap. This ensures that only the best, nourishing elements are present. Tallow, lard, and other traditional soap-making fats offer moisturizing properties that commercial soaps often lack. These natural ingredients create a beautiful lather that will gently cleanse your skin.

Each batch of soap I create is small and hand crafted. I take extra care to source my quality ingredients. By starting with quality ingredients and a great recipe, I can provide a quality product that is now available to you and your family. By using ingredients like activated charcoal, bentonite clay, turmeric powder, or kaolin clay; it allows me to utilize natural ingredients to create a beautiful bar of soap. I use other items like poppyseed or turmeric powder to provide an exfoliating property to the soaps, and essential oils for scents.

Along with using quality tallow or homegrown lard, I love to add extra moisturizers such as organic shea butter or mango butter in my products. I also like to use quality essential oils or infuse the oils with natural ingredients to make products that are gentle enough for all to use. I also like to provide unscented products for anyone who may have sensitivities. One thing I noticed when I was looking for products to use on my baby (who suffers from eczema) was that it was very hard to find unscented products from a small business. And so I created a few that I can use on him without worrying about any reactions.

Making Handmade Soaps

Why do I love making soaps and other products? Because it is so fun to see something come from oils and butters and turn into a product that my whole family can use. Creating recipes, coming up with new blends, and making a product that others use (and enjoy!) is such a creative outlet that brings me so much joy!

The process of making a batch of soap has made me appreciate the simplicity and effectiveness of handmade skincare products. I have realized that we don’t need to be using products with ingredients that we can’t say or with fragrances that can cause more harm than good. I enjoy creating products that are nourishing and promoting healthier, happier skin one bar at a time.

What Others Saying

Squeaky clean!

We love this soap! I haven’t known “squeaky clean” until I started using Linen and Logs soap, it washes off very well and doesn’t leave a film on your skin. My husband is especially obsessed with the lemon poppyseed bars as they are very exfoliating. Love them, love them!!
