Homemade Cleaning Spray Recipe

Today I am sharing a DIY Cleaning Spray made with Essential Oils. I use this all-purpose cleaner in my home to clean the kitchen and appliances, wiping down the walls and cabinets, fans, bathrooms, and more.

Natural products. I never thought about it too much until I had our first baby. And when her skin was so sensitive (and I realized that I have very sensitive skin also) I have been very conscious of what types of products I am bringing into the house. And if it can save us a little money, that doesn’t hurt either!

I have tried the vinegar sprays and I am just not a huge fan of my home smelling like vinegar! I started making this spray a couple of years ago, and not only do I like the fresh smell, I love that it is not harming myself or my family.

Favorite Essential Oils

I am not an expert in essential oils and I utilize any education I can to ensure that I use essential oils safely in my home. I have been a customer of Plant Therapy for many years, and love that they are a company that is very transparent in their products. Plant Therapy offers quality, affordable products with 3rd party testing and offers education on how to use their products safely.

How to Make Cleaning Spray Recipe with Essential Oils

Witch Hazel – Add 1 Tbsp to bottle. Witch Hazel is great for helping clean and for removing dirt and grime.

Liquid Castile Soap – Add 2 Tbsp to bottle. Castile soap is excellent to use for its cleaning properties and it is a very gentle soap, especially for those who may have sensitive skin.

Germ Fighter Essential Oil Blend – I add 30-35 drops into the bottle. Germ Fighter is made with Lemon, Clove Bud, Eucalyptus, Cinnamon, and Rosemary. It has a deliciously spicy smell and works wonderfully to works to help support your immune system.

Distilled Water – Add water until the bottle is full. I have also used water from my tap that I have boiled and cooled for this recipe. If you do this, make sure to use filtered water.

Replace the top of the bottle and mix well! Ready to use immediately.

Why Use Homemade Cleaning Spray

Why make and use cleaning spray made with essential oils? First, it is very cost-effective! Cleaning supplies can be very expensive and there are so many to choose from. I like that this recipe is very simple, I don’t need to have a ton of ingredients on hand, and it smells amazing. And I like that this cleaning spray cleans well and does not leave streaks.

Where to Use Essential Oil Cleaning Spray

I use this spray mainly in the kitchen area. Cleaning countertops, wiping down cabinets and appliances, kitchen table, cleaning the refrigerator, wiping down grimy fingerprints on the walls, etc.

I have also used this spray to clean light fixtures, wipe light switches, and all the other random little cleanings that you may do during the day.

I do not usually use this spray in the bathroom, as it is not considered disinfecting. I am still working to find my favorite disinfecting spray to use in the bathroom, so I will share when that is ready!

If you are not interested in keeping all of the extra ingredients on hand, Plant Therapy does have a Germ Fighter Multi-Surface Cleaner that you just need to add water to. This cleaning solution is perfect to use as an all-purpose spray, and is so easy to mix!
